30th Birthday Pub Crawl

I am looking to do a pub crawl for my 30th birthday in a downtown city setting (San Diego). I'm looking for ideas/games for the pub crawl.

I don't know that I want to do a full scavenger hunt and collect things, but maybe have everyone/team do something at each bar?

I'm not sure.....

If you don't want to collect things, challenges are a good idea, but you'll probably need to make the teams use cameras or videos to shoot verification that they have completed the tasks, unless you all intend to travel together.

In that case I would suggest that to add to the fun, you pick up a bag of those plastic pirate coins (no one can cheat that way by adding their own coins). Divide your guests into two teams and give each team half of the coins. At each pub your teams can challenge each other and bet on a number of plastic coins prior to executing the challenge. The team with the most coins at the end of the evening wins.

When it's a matter of who did something first, the winner will be clear cut. If there is a karaoke competition or a dance competition, you might need the other people at the pub to vote by applause for a winner.

There are a lot of challenges you could do from simple ones like darts and billiards, to more difficult ones like juggling, performing some odd trick for the crowd, or daring to do something completely humiliating.

Teams could challenge tables of strangers to a card game, or a shots competition. If the strangers win, the other team gets the coins.

You could prepare a trivia list ahead of time and each team could pick a table of strangers to compete on their behalf.

Do you have a list of the pubs you plan to visit? If you note them in the comment box below, I may be able to come up with some challenges specific to those establishments.

If you have the time to visit those pubs before your party, you could even come up with a list of questions the teams need to answer throughout the night. Whatever team finds the answer first wins for that challenge. (Eg. At what pub is the main bartender's nickname Curly? Where can you find Elton John's autograph at Andy's Pub and Eatery?)
