The Photo Swap

by Christina
(Salem, NH)

Every year my family gathers together on Christmas Eve. As all of us children have grown older and now join the adults in an annual swap we realize how much goes into Christmas with the gifts and time and $. So, this year I decided to start a new tradition. Instead of our family doing an annual yankee swap with gifts...we are going to do a picture swap.

Each family group (household) will pick their favorite family photo of themselves and spouse, children and/or pets, print enough copies for all the other households and on Christmas Eve we will all swap! Everyone will have new updated photos of each other and so much less $ will be spent on a more sentimental gift.

It will be very exciting to see all of the different photos. Share this idea with your family and enjoy the excitement and memories!

Photo tree
by: Linda

My daughter-in-law uses some Christmas cards received each year to create ornaments for her "family tree". Cut out an area for a photo and tape in photo shots from during the year - or you could use the photos received from family members. Hole-punch and string with ribbon to tie onto a "family tree". It's fun to see all the previous photos each year.

Awesome Idea!
by: Judy

I think that this is a great idea. Then everyone has new updated pics of their family and/or friends. And it will be fun seeing the different photos that everyone will swap because they wouldn't have to be just Christmas photos. I think snapshots are alot better than posed photos... you capture more of the individuals personality that way.

So Much Better Than a Useless Gift
by: Lea

OMG! This is the best. It is way better than going out to buy a silly gift that no one really wants. It saved a lot of money for me this year as well! And I was able to give everyone a gift that they can hang on their wall. Best idea!!!!!!

Love It!

I think this is a wonderful idea. I know how much I enjoy seeing my friends and family as they grow (up). And I know it would be something I could treasure after everyone has left the nest, to look back at all the wonderful times we've had. Thanks for the idea. I'll be sure to start it next year.
