Do you own a Clue boardgame? If so, then you're ready for a party.
Not only is Clue one of the most popular board games of all time, but the crime solving aspect of it makes it perfect to build a murder mystery theme party around.
Invite your guests out for an evening of mystery and assign each one of them to come as a specific Clue character.
The handsome, adventurous military man... Colonel Mustard The gossipy, professional maid... Mrs. White The intelligent, good-natured... Mr. Plum The elegant, sopisticated widow... Mrs. Peacock The rich, smooth talker... Mr. Green The sexy, flirty starlet... Miss Scarlet
Make your own invitations similar to the clue suspect cards, assigning each of your guests their character at the same time. Not in the mood for designing your own invitation? Send guests a mysterious email or try our specially commissioned Senorita Scarlet invitations. They're a classy way to inform your guests about your upcoming clue boardgame party.
Create a mysterious atmosphere with dim lighting and lots of candles.
Haunting instrumental music playing in the background is a great added touch. For extra effect you may even want to tape the shape of a body on the floor somewhere.
For some fun prizes visit Senorita Scarlet's Clue Shop.
Play the actual Clue boardgame at your party or...
... opt instead to have guests discover the murderer by moving from room to room and uncovering clues in each of the rooms. This might well be the most affordable and fun murder mystery you will ever host.
If setting up a life-size room to room version of the Clue boardgame, the host will have to be aware of the true murderer, weapon, and room the crime was committed in so as to be able to set up the rest of the game.
Play some clue or murder mystery trivia in the study. The top three scorers are each given one room card. Host a scavenger hunt in the den, with clues that lead to three hidden suspect cards. In the dining room serve up dinner or dessert and hide three of the weapons in the food. Warn your guests to be careful when eating and not to show the other players if they find a weapon. Play a game of chance in the living room and award the winners cards. Serve drinks with weapons frozen in a couple of ice cubes.
Set up enough activities so that all cards/weapons can be distributed to the players. Then, have guests mingle and try to trade off information amongst each other till someone is able to determine the murderer.
End the evening by watching the Clue movie.
